Our music curriculum fosters a deep appreciation for music, encouraging a lifelong passion that extends beyond the classroom. Music is woven into our daily activities, from singing during collective worship to using it as a tool for focus in various lessons. We celebrate music from all genres and eras, exploring its context, instrumentation, and the emotions it evokes. Through listening and discussion, students gain an understanding of the intent behind each piece.

Children are encouraged to explore composition by experimenting with a range of tuned and untuned instruments, creating music that reflects a theme. They develop, perform, and evaluate their own compositions, honing their musical skills and creativity. In partnership with Kent Music Hub, John Mayne School proudly implements 'Sing Up', an innovative music program that inspires and supports students in their musical journey.
